New Village Sign for Great Baddow
In 2013, Great Baddow Parish Council installed a brand new village sign on the small green at the junction of Church Street and Galleywood Road opposite the White Horse Public House. It became necessary after the old wooden sign, which had been in place for over 20 years and had been so much part of the village, fell into disrepair. The new sign is also a new departure. It features the Marconi tower which is a much loved feature in the Great Baddow landscape along with Baddow greenery. It was designed and built out of metal by local artist Dan Rawlings and its arrival was officially marked by the then Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Trevor Miller, who is fittingly also a Great Baddow parish councillor, at a small ceremony in September 2013. It is hoped that it will become as much a local landmark as the Marconi tower it features.
