The toddler's play area with a new safety surface installed in 2006
A toddlers' play area is situated in the Recreation Ground, and in 1997 a new play area was installed in grounds within Meadgate School. This is open to the public every day and has proved very popular.
New play equipment for the Recreation Ground - what would you like to see?
Unfortunately the play equipment for older children pictured below, which used to be in the Recreation Ground, had to be removed in 2007 because the wooden structure had deteriorated and was no longer safe. We propose to replace this with a new piece of equipment designed for 6 to 15 year olds, and are undertaking a public consultation to help decide the best style of play equipment to install. We would like as many views as possible, and have produced a questionnaire for parents and children to give us their ideas.
We are distributing some copies of the questionnaire through local schools, but copies are also available from Great Baddow Library, the Community Association and the Parish Council office. We would be very grateful if you could return your questionnaire by Friday 14th March, either to the Parish Council office, or to where you picked it up.
There will be a display of ideas for replacement equipment in the Bell Centre on Thursday 17th April between 2.30 pm and 7 pm, prior to the Village Conference, which begins at 7.30 pm. Please come along and add your comments - and it's not too late to return any questionnaires you may still have!

Former play equipment in the Recreation Ground - we want your ideas for replacing it!
All items of equipment are covered by special insurance and six-monthly checks are made on all our equipment by a qualified engineer appointed by our Insurance Company. All items are the subject of a daily inspection by our grounds staff and if any problems are found the item is taken out of use until repaired.
We hope you and your family will enjoy using all the play equipment.
