The rebuilding of the new Great Baddow Millennium Community Centre was mainly funded by the Millennium Commission (Lottery Funding). It is an excellent example of the Council's working in partnership with another local organisation, in this case the Community Association.

Great Baddow now has an excellent modern facility in the new hall opened on 10th April 1999. Although the hall cost approximately 500,000 to build the cost to ratepayers was just over 100,000, the balance being obtained by grants from Chelmsford Borough Council and Essex County Council and money raised by the Community Association.

The improved building provides a function room increased in size and height and with improved ventilation, two bars, two kitchens, additional storage, disabled facilities, one additional function room, conference facilities and upgraded toilets.

The visual impact of the building has also been greatly enhanced.
