A Village Design Statement describes the qualities and characteristics that people value in their village and sets out design guidance to show how existing character should be respected in any new development. It needs wide community involvement to represent the village as a whole, so the Design Statement Team always welcomes people who would like to help.

Village Design Statement questionnaire

Thanks to all those who responded to the questionnaire!
Nearly 500 completed questionnaires were returned, so thank you to everyone who filled them in. Those who did so will remember that if you filled in your name and address you would be entered for a prize draw. We were very grateful to Cllr Margaret Hutchon, Great Baddow borough councillor and Mayor of Chelmsford, for coming to a VDS meeting and making the draw - many congratulations to Mrs Margaret Nutt, the winner.
Thank you also to local businesses, Great Baddow Library, Great Baddow Community Centre and the Parish Council office for acting as collections points. The questionnaire exercise could not have been completed without their help.
Your answers will play an important part in formulating the design guidance that will be contained in the final Village Design Statement and work has now begun on drafting it.The final published Village Design Statement will be available on request to every household in the parish and there will be full public consultation on the draft document before publication.

2007 Annual General
Meeting
The 2nd AGM was held on Tuesday 17th April in Committee Room 1 at
the Parish Hall. The committee gave a report on the activities
during the year, which included the Village Questionnaire, contact
with schools to gain young people's views, and work on an initial
draft of the final document. There were displays on the
questionnaire and on the draft document for people to examine, and
coffee and biscuits were served during a discussion time after the
meeting.
Help would still be very welcome as we work on
drawing up the final document and the guidance that it should
contain. If you would like to find out more, please phone Brian
Roscoe, Chairman of the VDS Team, on 01245
353083 or Keith Ronaldson, Secretary, on
01245 471568.
